Short Bio

KIM CHASE – b. 1963, Carleton Place, ON Kim Chase is an acrylic and oil painter primarily recognized for her wildlife works. She centers on the expression, storytelling, and the beauty in each subject. She believes we are all connected to nature in a parallel way, behaviors, movement, attitudes, and visually. Her connection to art is with nature, expressing that interrelation visually and expounding the parallel relationships we have with it. She has exhibited nationally and internationally from the USA to Europe. Kim has been published in THE STORY OF FASHION magazine highlighting Canadian artists, PleinAir Magazine winning 1st Place in the Best of Animal & Birds category, Boomer Gallery Magazine, Artists for Conservation hard cover and Society of Animal Artists Annual Catalogue. Although she has been engaged on and off with her art throughout her life, she has only found a renewed passion for it over the past 6 years.

Statement

My work is driven by a fascination with intricate details and the mesmerizing dance of light and color on my subjects. This interplay draws me in and fuels my creative process, whether the scene is dark or light.

I deeply believe in the intrinsic connection between humanity and nature. We are intertwined with the air, water, and earth, mirroring nature in behaviors, movements, and attitudes. This profound link often goes unnoticed, but it is a truth I strive to capture in my art.

Each piece I create is an exploration of this unity, inviting viewers to recognize the parallels between our lives and the natural world. In a world where we constantly seek guidance, strength, and peace, I believe we can find these attributes by reflecting on our connection to nature.

Through my art, I encourage a journey of self-discovery, finding solace and inspiration in our surroundings. My work celebrates our enduring bond with nature, reminding us of the harmony and strength within this relationship, and inviting viewers to embrace the unity that defines our existence.

Biography

Kim Chase is a Canadian painter who is most recognized for her wildlife and portrait work. She is self-taught but has been mentored by master artists such as Mark Heine, Garin Baker, Scott Breton, Matt Phyllio and Robert Caldwell. She has been dabbling in art all her life but became a full-time artist +6 years ago.

She has exhibited her work in New York, Venice, Dover NH, Birmingham AB, Toronto, London UK, Vancouver, BC and at the Sioux City Museum in Iowa. She is published in Story of Fashion Magazine, PleinAir Salon Magazine, Artists for Conservation, Society of Animal Artists and Boomer Magazine from the UK. With numerous awards to her credit, Kim continues to strive for excellence in everything she does.

Nature and our spiritual connection to all that it embodies has an impact on Kim. By depicting these relationships in her art, she can express our innate links with wildlife and how, through evolution, we have lost our connection. Kim wants her paintings to bring viewers back to a grounding point that brings awareness to our natural surroundings and the connection we are losing with it in a society that has become all too engrossed with technology and social media.

She likes to emphasize storytelling, emotion, and the aesthetic elegance of each subject while enticing the spectator with the narratives. With each piece, Kim wants to lure you into her world, her mind and leave you with a sense of calm or excitement to remember and come back to. It’s important for her to establish that connection each time she paints and conveys a message or feeling about the subject, giving credence to the harmony we try to hold onto in this world.

Ultimately, her work is a celebration of our profound and enduring connection to nature, a reminder of the strength and peace that can be found within this relationship. It is an invitation to look deeper, to feel the harmony that exists between us and the world we inhabit, and to embrace the unity that defines our existence.
